Project pricing calculator

Price a project by costing the hours and expenses first, then adding the margin you want. This calculator does it in your browser, free, with no sign-up.

The project

Cost the work first, then add the margin you want.

Figures are shown in your currency. Switching relabels them — it does not convert.

Hourly and day rate build the price up from time. Fixed fee starts from the number you want to quote and shows what it implies.

hrs

The hours you will actually charge for.

$

Your rate per hour.

days

Working days, not calendar days.

$

What you charge for a full day.

$

We work backwards from this to show the margin it actually leaves.

hrs

So we can show the effective hourly rate you are really agreeing to.

$

Travel, licences, materials, subcontractors.

%

Left at 0 the quote is your cost with no profit in it.

Formula

Base = (Hours × Rate) + Expenses Price = Base ÷ (1 − Margin)

How it works

Margin is applied by DIVIDING, not by adding a percentage. Adding 20% to cost gives a 16.7% margin, not 20% — a mistake that quietly underprices every job.

Example

40 hours at 80 plus 200 expenses = 3,400 base. At a 20% target margin the price is 3,400 ÷ 0.8 = 4,250.
