Markup calculator
Markup is profit as a percentage of the cost. It is not the same as margin — a 50% margin is a 100% markup — and this calculator makes both explicit.

Formula
Profit = Revenue − Cost
Markup % = Profit ÷ Cost × 100 How it works
Markup is profit as a percentage of the COST. Unlike margin it is unbounded — a 400% markup is perfectly ordinary. Cost of zero has no markup, so the tool says so rather than printing infinity.
Example
An item costs 600 and sells for 1,000. Profit is 400, and 400 ÷ 600 = 66.67% markup. That same sale is only a 40% margin.
